Border to Border

A film by Joe Mannion

This film is the account of a journey on skis across Finland from the eastern border with Russia to the western border with Sweden following the line of the Arctic Circle. Over 7 days and 440 km, Peter McManners struggles with the intense cold crossing some of the most beautiful and remote scenery in Europe. Along the way he takes time to identify pointers to more sustainable ways of living and reflect on the risk of taking nature for granted.

Peter McManners is an expert in sustainability and a passionate advocate for a thriving society that works in tune with nature. He is robust in exposing the problems of modern society but also optimistic that it is possible to reconcile human aspirations with respect for the environment.

Joseph Mannion is an up and coming filmmaker having recently graduated from the Manchester School of Art. “Border to Border” is his first broadcast length documentary. He is working on a number of other projects including music videos and dramas.
